The Bizarre US-Iranian Negotiations

Sun, 04/19/2015 - 15:16
The US and other imperial powers hypocritically demand that Iran limits its nuclear energy and military programs, in unilateral "negotiations." But while internationalists reject US hypocrisy and bullying, we should not accept nuclear bombs or energy by any nation.

Palestine-Israel, The joint struggle continues with fresh conviction that it is a fulcrum of the international lever

Sat, 04/18/2015 - 06:56
Bil'in, Ma'sara, Ni'ilin, Nabi Saleh, Qaddum, South of Hebron Hills, Sheikh Jarrah
With the conviction that our main contribution is not so much in changes on the ground but in the spirit of the struggle of the participants and the fulcrum we provide to the international lever. The gradual increase in international pressure which the Israeli high court verdict is that is a criminal act for Israeli to promote causing already much of damages in the economy of occupation and concern of the Zionist-colonialist Israeli ruling Elite. We see here again how small number of activists can initiate a turn in the course of history when it is applied in the ripe cross-road. It started in a small joint camp in Masha 2003 for struggle against the separation fence, after the idea raised half a year earlier in the European People Global Action conference in Leiden - in which activists from the East of the Mediterranean region participated too. The camp initiated struggles in various villages that riped at 2005 in the Bil'in struggle... which expanded and expanded...

International call for solidarity with the case of Nicolás Neira

Thu, 04/16/2015 - 07:05
“In order to describe heaven, it is not necessary to transport up there earthy materials. It is necessary to abandon earth, its materials, in order to embellish life with its ideal” –Isidore Ducasse.

With anger in our hearts and a deep sense of injustice is that we remember Nicolás David Neira Álvarez, a 15 year old young man, whose early affinity with anarchist ideas led him to be bludgeoned by the Colombian riot police (ESMAD) to the point that the constant banging of his head against the pavement damaged his brain matter. This happened during the heavy handed repression against the anarchist block during the May Day demonstrations in Bogotá, 2005. He would pass away on the 6 of March.

Menace in Europe

Mon, 04/13/2015 - 10:49
Lessons on unassimilated fascist Islam in Europe
Now that the grief over the terror attack on the Parisian satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and on a kosher supermarket has subsided, overtaken by outrage at the far larger massacres perpetrated in Africa by Boko Haram in Nigeria and al-Shabab in Kenya, allow me to offer some observations about the cuckoo in the nest: unassimilated fascist Islam in Europe. I will rely here on some personal anecdotes of my time spent in Paris, the insights of French comrades, and in particular on Claire Berlinski's book Menace in Europe: Why the Continent's Crisis is America's Too (Crown Forum, New York, 2006).

Bolivia: Burdens of a State Manager

Mon, 04/13/2015 - 05:44
In the opening salvos of Latin America’s uneven lurch to the Left in the early twenty-first century, Bolivia distinguished itself as the region’s most radical socio-political terrain.1 Left-indigenous movements in the countryside and cityscapes alike threw the state into crisis and brought two successive neoliberal presidents to their knees – Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada in 2003, and Carlos Mesa in 2005.2 Evo Morales’s party, the Movimiento al Socialismo (Movement Towards Socialism, MAS), leapt into the power vacuum opened up by this series of revolts, and there has been serious debate on the Left as to how best to button down the central political dynamic of the country ever since. In a country where 62 percent of the population self-identified as indigenous in the 2001 census, Morales became the first indigenous president through the December 2005 elections with 54 percent of the popular vote, assuming office in January 2006. He repeated this extraordinary electoral success in December 2009, with 64 percent, and again in October 2014, with 61 percent.

Fascists crawl out of the sewers

Thu, 04/09/2015 - 06:40
Fascism is a movement of the ruined middle classes (e.g. small business going out backwards), who aim to take State power by, or with the assistance of, extra-legal force in order to resolve their problems at the expense of the working class. In attempting this, it makes use of demoralised sections of the unemployed who can think little further than where their next meal is coming from.

Palestine-Israel, The collapse of the deterrent ability of Israel in the last Gaza war is expressed every where*

Tue, 04/07/2015 - 16:37
The frustrated Israeli state force who do not dare to prevent the weekly non armed popular demonstrations - Joined and purely of Palestinians, resort to shooting on demonstrators with frequent use of live fire by snippers. In the annexed regions of Jerusalem they no more pretend it is not an occupied area and apply there the occupation procedures - both in treatment of detaining children and houses demolition. The "hot" areas of the popular non armed struggle gradually expand but still far away from a general uprising. The international popular struggle worry the Israeli elite but the damages to the Israeli economy is still in the margins. It seems the Zionist settler colonialist elite which bribed the tycoons section of the capitalist elite with extreme neo liberal measures cannot do it any more as other sections of the capitalist elite (backers of Cakhlon) rebelled.

The struggle for the environment

Mon, 04/06/2015 - 06:50
Through libertarian communism we can reach a point of balance between the capacities to produce, the needs of populations, and the limits of the biosphere. We cannot build our future in opposition to the rest of life. The ideology of domination must be broken everywhere, so that humanity can find a safe future on its planet.

Bridges between anarchism and democratic confederalism – 2

Fri, 04/03/2015 - 18:27
Introduction to this particular issue, April 2nd Bruno Lima Rocha

In this part I will expose some basic historical information about the anarchist political organization model and in the end, make a comparison between these experiences and the nowadays mission of the political organization that intends to be the catalyst of a Democratic Confederalist social change. [South Africa] End the de facto State of Emergency in Themelihle

Tue, 03/31/2015 - 08:58
The Thembelihle Crisis Committee, the United Front (UF), the Right to Know (R2K) Campaign and the Democratic Left Front call on all people of good conscience in South Africa to endorse the call for an end to the security siege of Thembelihle. Since the 25th of February 2015, Thembelihle has faced a de facto State of Emergency at the hands of the South African Police Services (SAPS) and other security agents. This undeclared, unofficial State of Emergency in Thembelihle is an attack on all our constitutionally guaranteed rights to and freedoms to organise, associate and freely express ourselves. We call for urgent action to put pressure on the SAPS to end the siege. We call for the creation of conducive conditions for free, open and democratic political activity in which the people of Thembelihle may express and exercise their right to protest, and have their demands for a decent life of dignity met.

Recovering Portugal's Mass Anarchist History

Mon, 03/30/2015 - 09:54
a review of João Freire's Freedom Fighters: Anarchist Intellectuals, Workers, and Soldiers in Portugal's History
Overshadowed in most histories by the Spanish anarchist movement next door, the Portuguese movement may have been numerically smaller but was relatively, by head of population, a *larger* movement, with the anarchosyndicalist CGT achieving an almost totally hegemonic position in the working class. The Forgotten Tradition of French Sovietism

Mon, 03/30/2015 - 09:49
a review of David Berry's A History of the French Anarchist Movement, 1917-1945
To an English-speaking outsider, the French anarchist movement - as distinct from the Francophone anarchist movement in North Africa, Vietnam, etc - is often viewed as the "mother" movement because of the massive CGT union federation which, under anarchist sway, amalgamated with the local Bourses du Travail in 1895, establishing an "apolitical" model of mass anarchosyndicalism that was replicated in Fracophile countries such as Poland and most of Europe and lands as far away as Brazil, Egypt and Senegal.

Brazil: The Débâcle of the PT

Mon, 03/30/2015 - 06:31
Hundreds of thousands of chiefly white middle class protesters took to the streets in Brazil on 15 March in an organized upsurge of hatred against the federal administration led by President Dilma Rousseff of the Workers’ Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT). These protests are far more cohesive and better organized than the previous wave of anti-government demonstrations, in 2013; their demands are unambiguously reactionary, and they include primarily the country's elite.

Rally Against Racism Sat 4 April

Sun, 03/29/2015 - 08:21
The far Right “Reclaim Australia” plans to hold an anti-Muslim rally in Melbourne and also at other places around Australia. They want people to believe they’re just “ordinary Australians” who are worried about “radical Islam”. What they’re NOT telling you is that they are Fascists – yes, actual far Right, Hitler-loving racists who have decided it’s a tactical advantage to wrap themselves in Australian flags. Late contemplations about the Charlie Hebdo massacre

Tue, 03/24/2015 - 10:41
The attack on Charlie Hebdo last January was carefully designed to the full benefit of IS, but also to the benefit of the ruling Elite in the advanced capitalist world. It was not intended as punishment for Charlie Hebdo's satiric attitude toward what IS considers as "sacred", but as punishment for millions of Muslims who accepted such an attitude by their silence, especially Muslims who live in France and the west. IS, like everyone else, knew very well that Muslims in Europe and the west will be under heavier pressure after such an attack. IS offered Muslims only one way to defend themselves: to accept its fundamentalist hyper-dogmatic version of Islam and join its ranks - martyrdom and heaven through killing and suicide bombing. The message of IS was clear: freedom of conscience and expression is never a part of Muslims' identity, so it must be declined, denied and fought against. Both IS and the western elite accepted this as a "fact". [http://www.anarkismo.net/article/28034]

The party is haunting us again

Tue, 03/24/2015 - 10:06
Karl Marx once said that history repeats itself, first as a tragedy then as a farce. A case in point is that in South Africa sections of the left are once again calling for a mass workers’ party (MWP) to be formed to contest elections – this they believe will bring us closer to revolution. History says otherwise.

Of course the new calls for a MWP stem from the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) breaking from the African National Congress (ANC). As an outcome NUMSA is exploring the possibility of setting up a MWP to contest elections. Many Marxist and leftist influenced organisations, but also cadres within NUMSA, are therefore providing reasons why activists should be interested in such a party.

Palestine-Israel, the joint struggle in turbulent times of the fragmentation in the Zionist rilling elite*

Sun, 03/22/2015 - 03:22
Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, Kadum, Ma'asarah, Southern Hebron Hills, Sheikh Jarrah, the Bedouins of the south, Dahamsh
The merger between the Zionist leadership and the capitalist elite which started 1948 picked in the Tycoons dominance, at 20010. The "too successful" neo-liberalism was challenged by the social struggle, conflicts within the capitalist elite and threatened by international pressure yielded the diminishing power of the old order when the right lost its absolute power in the parliament depending now on the opponent of the milder Zionist right (Kachlon). It is not sure how fast the retreat in the neo-liberal trend and the defeat of the Tycoons combined with the international pressure will yield also retreat in the advance of the Zionist settler and transfer effort. Mean time the joint struggle continue in Bil'in, Ni'ilin, Nebi Saleh, Kadum, Ma'asarah, Southern Hebron Hills, Sheikh Jarrah, the Bedouins of the south, Dahamsh... with additional locations from time to time.

If The Government Is Thirsty For Blood, Then Take It!

Wed, 03/11/2015 - 09:59
IF THE GOVERNMENT IS THIRSTY FOR BLOOD, THEN TAKE IT!
On the first anniversary of the murder of Berkin Elvan, our comrades opened a pankart on the stairs of Gezi Park, written " Berkin is here".
Our 8 comrades are assaulted, abused and taken into custody, handcuffed from the back.

They poured red paint on the stairs of the Gezi Park, shouting " If the government is thirsty for blood, then take it."
We are going to call the murderers to account!
Berkin is here, we are here!
